Survival & Human Evolution - April
Around the time when ramps stick their leaves out to gather the sun’s energy before the canopy fills in students will meet to learn the skills of our ancestors.
Humans have forgotten our roots. Most of us are visitors to our own home-land. We as a species have lost our way. But before we can move forward in life, we must first learn where we came from. We must connect to our ancestors, human and non, and remember how they live within us and what their ways of life can teach us in this modern day world.
In this intro to survival class, students will learn how holistic Survival skills can be. Students will follow the deep-history of our ancient hominid ancestors and start learning our human “superpowers” and how our species has learned to survive, physically, emotionally and spiritually. Over the course of the class, students will learn the basics of survival and how our human ancestors learned and evolved to get their needs taken care of from the plants, animals and elements around them and how those skills relate to modern-day camping, and survival, as well as everyday living. Furthermore, students will learn the basics of Nonviolent communication (NVC) and how to our needs dictate how well we can connect.
Students will come away with this weekend with great appreciation for the skill and knowledge of our ancestors as well as great appreciation for the everyday conveniences we take for granted everyday.
